TONY ORLANDO, currently in New Zealand with an amazing band including songwriter, Toni Wine, was an absolute smash in Christchurch a couple of nights ago, and is set to repeat this success in Wellington and Auckland. He and the band performed for over 2 hours, and received a genuine standing ovation that lasted for about 6 minutes. Diverse material that in writing looks weird, but in practice is perfect - from "Tie A Yellow Ribbon Round The Ole Oak Tree: to "Purple Rain"; amazing.
Bats Theatre in Wellington is the unlikely theatre for the chamber play, THE VENETIAN BRIDE, adapted by Robert Tripe from a short Story by Maurice Shadbolt. Finely played by a superb cast that included both helen Moulder and Grant Tilly. Well worth seeing.
